The Kansas City Chiefs’ players and staff haven’t yet received that one signature piece of jewelry that helps permanently signify their Super Bowl LIV win. The design process for their championship ring is well underway, though.
Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recently revealed in an interview on FOX Football Now that he hasn’t only seen the design for the Super Bowl LIV rings, but he also provided some input on the design.
“I was very fortunate that I got asked to just peek at [the ring design] and give my thoughts,” Kelce told FOX Sports host Erin Andrews. “I feel like anything would be appreciated at this point, you know? You just want to have the hardware, to reminisce and put a ring on your finger like you’ve always wanted to in life. Sure enough, just to see it on paper, I can only imagine how beautiful it’s going to look in person.”
Kelce, of course, is a bit of a fashionista and has his own “Tru Kolors” lifestyle brand. He’s definitely one of the few players that is qualified to have a bit of input on the ring design. And his initial reaction to the design should have the Chiefs Kingdom excited for the eventual reveal.
One thing we can assume about the design of the Super Bowl LIV ring is that it will be steeped in tradition, with callbacks to the Super Bowl IV design. The Chiefs are a very traditional franchise and it only makes sense for the design to echo that characteristic.
We haven’t yet heard which company will be designing the ring for Kansas City. It could be Jostens, who designed the Chiefs’ Super Bowl IV ring and has designed the past five consecutive Super Bowl rings for the NFL. It could also be a local company like Helzberg Diamonds, who is a proud partner of the Chiefs franchise.
