Kansas City Chiefs S Justin Reid made headlines earlier this week for all the wrong reasons.
His pregame comments about Bengals TE Hayden Hurst sparked a ton of back-and-forth with Cincinnati’s players ahead of the game. The talk even earned a stern remark from Andy Reid during Friday’s media availability.
Asked if he had any regrets for the comments he made, Reid explained that he’d apologized to Hurst for not paying him the proper respect. Outside of that, Reid stuck by his guns. He says that he remains confident in his teammates and their ability on defense and always will.
“I feel bad that I didn’t know — I didn’t give the proper respect to Hayden Hurst in this game,” Reid said. “I apologized to him for that. I still feel confident and always will be confident in our team and our defense to go out and play tough football. Credit to (the Bengals), they went out and played a hell of a game today. (They) made a couple of more plays than we did and came out with the win.”
Hurst made two catches for 12 yards on three targets during the game before exiting with a calf injury. Reid made four tackles on the night. He was taunted by WR Ja’Marr Chase during the game and he caught a wicked stiff arm from Bengals RB Samaje Perine.
