The rivalry between Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady has stretched beyond the matchup of Kansas City Chiefs versus Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The chance to see two quarterbacks believed by many to be the best of their generations has consistently trumped most game expectations.

The national attention Sunday’s game will generate won’t match their Super Bowl LV matchup, but it will continue to turn heads. The healthy respect both quarterbacks have for each other has made this sixth meeting even more special since there are no guarantees they will play each other again.

Mahomes opened up about facing off with Brady again this Sunday night during Wednesday’s press conference.

“Yeah, I mean, it’s special to see the things that he’s done in this league,” said Mahomes. “The way he was able to change the position, the longevity of great success – I mean, that’s the crazy part – you look at his career, and there’s never really been a down year. He’s always been great and had a great season and found ways to get even better. He’s done stuff off the field that hasn’t impacted him on the field but still made his legacy even greater so it’s always a great opportunity for me and our team to go up against a great quarterback and really see where our team is at.”

This will be the sixth matchup between the two quarterbacks, with Brady holding a 3-2 record over Mahomes heading into the game. Brady also has a win over Mahomes on the golf course.

“Yeah, yeah, he got me in golf, man,” Mahomes joked. “But it’ll be a big game for us. We’ve had a lot of games and he’s won kind of the bigger ones, so it’ll be a big game for me to kind of go up there and try to find a way to just win as a team.”

The Chiefs haven’t seen the Buccaneers since Super Bowl LV, so those that are still a part of the team have been anticipating this moment. Mahomes continues to show respect for Brady, but he’d like to add one more win to their ongoing rivalry.
