Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes is headlining the “99 Club” for “Madden NFL 21” in the latest installment in the Madden video game franchise by EA Sports. On Monday morning, Mahomes was announced as the first member of the exclusive club, which features only the highest-rated players in the game.
The past year, when Mahomes was the cover athlete for “Madden NFL 20”, he didn’t carry a 99 overall rating initially. It wasn’t until later in the season after a few title updates that Mahomes became a player with a 99 rating. The Super Bowl MVP that Mahomes won in Super Bowl LIV must have been the kicker for the developers to finally give him his due credit as one of the best players in the game.
In honor of joining the “99 Club”, EA Sports sent Mahomes some cool Madden swag. Travis Kelce helped surprise Mahomes with the news over the weekend at Lake Tahoe during the American Century Championship. Check it out:
