Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has love-hate relationship with Hard Rock Stadium

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has some fond and not-so-fond memories in the Miami Dolphins’ stadium.

After the Week 14 game against the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tweeted that he has a love/hate relationship with Hard Rock Stadium.

He didn’t have his best outing in Week 14, tossing three interceptions in the 33-27 win over the Dolphins. He still managed to rally and add two touchdowns and just under 400 yards to his tally for the week. He obviously has some great memories in the stadium, winning Super Bowl LIV against the San Francisco 49ers there nearly a year ago. But he has noticed a trend occurring every time he’s played in Miami.

Shortly after his tweet, Mahomes spoke to the media and elaborated on why he has a love/hate relationship with the stadium.

“Yeah, I mean obviously the love part, I mean we won the Super Bowl here and we just clinched the AFC West,” Mahomes told reporters. “So it seems like every time we leave this stadium we have a hat of some type of thing we accomplished. But then the hate part, I feel like I have half of my interceptions, it seems like, at this football stadium.”

Mahomes isn’t exactly wrong about most of his interceptions coming in Miami. He has 25 career interceptions, including the postseason. He has five interceptions at Hard Rock Stadium during his career which means 20% of his career interceptions have occurred in this stadium.

“Obviously, it’s a little bit of joke,” Mahomes continued. “Whatever ways we win football games I love it. But at the same time, it’s just ironic that it happened to be at this stadium.”

This irony does only seem to extend to Hard Rock Stadium too. Earlier this season, Mahomes was clear of interceptions over on the western coast of Florida in Raymond James Stadium against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That also happens to be where the NFL will host Super Bowl LV this season, so that could be good news for Mahomes when it comes to making some new memories in a different Florida stadium this postseason.
