Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes gives shout-out to Dylan Raiola

Patrick Mahomes was impressed with Dylan Raiola’s play on Saturday.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes praised Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola following the latter’s touchdown to Isaiah Neyor on Saturday. Mahomes took notice of the freshman’s stellar debut.

The true freshman threw for 238 yards and two touchdowns in a 40-7 season-opening victory against UTEP. Many on social media, including Mahomes, were excited about the freshman’s performance.

The two have been compared for similar styles. Both quarterbacks also have the same private quarterback coach, Jeff Christensen. As reported by USA TODAY, the freshman expressed his excitement at being noticed by a quarterback with a resume like Patrick Mahomes.

“It’s pretty cool to be (noticed) by a guy like Mahomes. He’s probably going to go down as one of the greatest. It’s cool. But our focus is to work on our team and keep getting better in camp.”

Raiola’s collegiate career is just getting started. Nevertheless, he has already created a ton of buzz for a Nebraska football program that desperately needs it. It’s safe to say some of the biggest names in the game are taking notice.
