The festivities of Super Bowl week kicked off on Monday night with the official opening media scrum in Arizona for both teams. The fun and fandom of the opening night media day are to see a more relaxed side of the players and coaches ahead of this Sunday’s game.

The process isn’t new for Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as he enters his third Super Bowl in four seasons. Questions of every imaginable topic were tossed at Mahomes, but he always finds time for the kids in attendance. Mahomes spoke with a young girl in attendance who asked him about the importance of following your dreams at a young age.

“You’ve always got to focus on your goals,” said Mahomes. “So whatever you do in life, trying to be a doctor or lawyer on a football field, you focus on going and achieving those goals. And everything usually works out.

“Always it’s about how you finish how you work every single day. And the people you have around you supporting you.”

Mahomes revealed the obstacles and negativity he faced in his journey later in the night. Many people preferred him to pursue a career in baseball like his father but remained focused on his passion for football.

“Yeah, I would say keep following your dreams no matter what anyone says. No one thought I was gonna be a professional football player,” said Mahomes. “I had people telling me to focus on baseball and not playing football, and I follow my dream, and I’m sitting here today, so follow your dreams.”

The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of children, and the founder continues to preach positivity. A young potential Super Bowl quarterback could be watching those comments and feel inspired for the future.
