Observations:

  • Right now, the defensive line and linebacker group have a good amount of bodies. The question is how reliable are the third-string guys? They are basically all unknown commodities, with no playing time for the Chiefs last season. Which of them will step up? Ward and Harris got praise from Brett Veach as undrafted free agents in 2019 but spent the season on the NFI list.
  • The cornerback group is painfully thin. Ward and Fenton are the only players with starting experience last season. Brown was on the 53-man roster but played special teams. I’d expect Kansas City to add players in free agency, the draft, and undrafted free agency.
  • The safety group is solid for the time being and with Thornhill doing well in his recovery, they might be able to get away with not adding anyone here until undrafted free agency.
