Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy is set to participate in the NFL’s third annual QB coaching summit.
The NFL and the Black College Football Hall of Fame team up every year to host this event, with the goal of providing young NFL and NCAA coaches with resources and networking opportunities to promote diversity and strengthen the NFL coaching pipeline.
This year will be a little different, while the even is currently set to take place from June 22-23, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced it to go virtual.
“The Quarterback Summit brings together the brightest, most innovative and successful offensive minds from around the country,” NFL executive vice president of football operations, Troy Vincent, wrote in the press release. “From professional development to networking to coaching best practices, this summit should leave no doubt about the promising pipeline of championship play-callers within the sport of football.”
Bieniemy is among those coaches listed as attending the event. He attended the event last season after being a hot candidate in the head-coaching carousel in 2018. This time around, he’s returning to the program a Super Bowl champion. Perhaps the results will be different for the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator.
This year the league has also invited past NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship participants to attend the coaching summit. This should provide even more networking opportunities for those who’ve worked with the NFL in the past. Kansas City had eight coaches participate in training camp as a part of the fellowship last season.
