The Kansas City Chiefs have possibly lost one of their top special teams players against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
About halfway through the first quarter, Chiefs third-year LB Dorian O’Daniel suffered an ankle injury during kick coverage. The team quickly ruled him as questionable to return to the game with that injury. It’s not clear how severe the injury is for O’Daniel.
This injury actually leaves the Chiefs shorthanded at the linebacker position as they usually only have five linebackers active this season. Today, second-year LB Darius Harris is inactive too, Willie Gay Jr and Ben Niemann are the only depth guys outside of the starting duo of Damien Wilson and Anthony Hitchens.

O’Daniel doesn’t typically play snaps on defense, so his loss shouldn’t be felt there. On special teams he’s routinely tied for the most snaps for that unit, playing in nearly every phase in each game this season.
