Chiefs injury, absence updates from Day 9 of training camp

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif sat out of Friday’s practice with an injury, but the #Chiefs got some good news on WR Antonio Callaway. More here:

The Kansas City Chiefs were back on the practice fields at Missouri Western State University on Friday, but after spending most of the week in full pads, they spent the day in helmets, shorts and spiders. It was a signature Andy Reid 10-10-10 practice, which includes a series of 10 offensive, defensive and special teams plays.

The team was without WR Antonio Callaway on Friday after he suffered a knee injury during Thursday’s practice session. He was carted up the hill with his injury, suggesting it to be a bit more serious than any of the injuries the team had thus far in training camp. The good news is that the injury is not super serious, with Chiefs PR reporting a bone bruise for Callaway.

Laurent Duvernay-Tardif also wasn’t out at practice on Friday. He’s dealing with a hand injury, severity unknown. Clearly, it was enough to keep him out on a light practice day, so it’s worth monitoring.

The best news to report out of practice is that there were no new injuries. Willie Gay Jr. (concussion), Alex Okafor (Hamstring), Chad Williams (groin), Mike Remmers (back), Evan Baylis (Ankle), Kyle Long (tibia), and Malik Herring (knee) all remained absent from practice on Friday.

The team has an off day on Saturday but will be back at practice at 9:15 a.m. sharp on Sunday.
