The Kansas City Chiefs were back on the fields at Missouri Western State University on Friday, participating in their third training camp practice of the year.
Two Chiefs players who’d previously been out of practice returned to practice on Friday, at least in some capacity.
LS James Winchester received clearance to return from the Reserve/COVID-19 list after being placed on the list when veterans reported to camp. LS Drew Scott, who was signed to temporarily replace Winchester, was still out there and practicing today. The team still had a free roster spot for Scott after placing RB Darwin Thompson on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Also returning to practice was LB Anthony Hitchens, who left practice on Wednesday with a hamstring tweak. He was out at practice early, participating in individual drills at practice, but he didn’t participate in team periods.
Travis Kelce did not participate in practice after exiting on Thursday with back and hip tightness. He did join his teammates about an hour into practice, working on the sidelines in the training tent.

Kelce has been through enough of these practices that he isn’t missing out on much by being absent. I’d expect the team to continue to be cautious with Kelce, easing him back into action whenever he’s ready.
The best news of the day, there were no new injuries reported by Chiefs PR following the conclusion of practice. The team will be back out there tomorrow for their fourth practice at 9:15 a.m. sharp.
