Chiefs hosting Texas Tech WR Erik Ezukanma on top-30 visit

The #Chiefs are hosting a WR from Patrick Mahomes’ alma mater on a top-30 visit today.

The Kansas City Chiefs are hosting a player for a top-30 visit who played college football at Patrick Mahomes’ alma mater.

Texas Tech WR Erik Ezukanma posted to his Instagram story pictures of him visiting the Chiefs’ practice facilities on Thursday. Blue Wire podcasts host Billy Marshall shared a screenshot of those pictures on Twitter.

A Fort Worth, Texas native, Ezukanma first started with the Red Raiders in 2018 as a four-star recruit. He didn’t get a chance to play with Mahomes, but it’s possible the two crossed paths when Ezukanma was recruited to Texas Tech. Should Ezukanma join the Chiefs in the 2022 NFL draft, he’ll get a chance to play with the Red Raiders legend.

In 2018, Ezukanma appeared in two games recording multiple catches for 48 yards and a touchdown before redshirting. He’d lead Texas Tech in receiving yards in each of the next three seasons, starting with 42 receptions for 664 yards and four touchdowns in 2019. During his sophomore season in 2020, Ezukanma caught 46 passes for 748 yards and six touchdowns. As a junior in 2021, Ezukanma caught 48 passes for 706 yards and four touchdowns.

Ezukanma weighed in at 6-2 and 209 pounds at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He didn’t participate in the 40-yard dash at the combine, but he ran it in 4.53 seconds at his pro day. At the combine, Ezukanma jumped a 36.5-inch vertical, a 126-inch broad jump and ran a 4.38s shuttle run.
