Chiefs hosting Georgia WR George Pickens on Top-30 visit

The #Chiefs are hosting Georgia WR George Pickens for a top-30 visit on Wednesday according to a new report.

The Kansas City Chiefs are bringing in one of the top WR prospects in the 2022 NFL draft class for a top-30 visit.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Chiefs are hosting Georgia WR George Pickens for a visit today. He’ll also take a visit with the Green Bay Packers tomorrow. Suddenly, two teams who traded away their top receiver this offseason are showing interest in Pickens.

This isn’t the first interest that Kansas City has shown in Pickens, though. At the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, Pickens told reporters that he’d had a productive meeting with the Chiefs. The team was said to be interested in his size and speed, plus how he might develop in their system.

Listed at 6-3 and 195 pounds, Pickens has the makings of an “X” receiver in the K.C. offense. He’s a player who can get open in 1-on-1 coverage on the perimeter. The big question about Pickens heading into the 2022 NFL draft was regarding his health and that could be the reason the team is bringing him in for a top-30 visit.

Pickens suffered a non-contact ACL injury back in March of 2021. He returned to action to appear in just four games with the Bulldogs last season, but he wasn’t exactly super productive. He ran a 4.47s 40-yard dash at the combine, which helped fill in some of the blanks related to his health, but the team likely wants to have Rick Burkholder examine him at the top-30 visit. While Pickens can’t participate in football activities during these types of visits, he is permitted to meet with the training staff to undergo medical evaluations.
