Chiefs hosting Georgia LT Broderick Jones on pre-draft visit

On the final day for pre-draft visits to club facilities, the #Chiefs have Georgia LT Broderick Jones in the building.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ work on the crop of offensive tackles in the 2023 NFL draft continues.

On the final day when teams are allowed to host players at team facilities for pre-draft visits, the Chiefs will host Georgia left tackle Broderick Jones according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Jones is one of the players that the team has shown quite a bit of interest in during the pre-draft process. He had a formal meeting with K.C.’s decision-makers at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Chiefs scouts were also in attendance for his showdown against the Oregon Ducks in Week 1 of the 2022 college football season.

Jones redshirted in 2020 after injuring his leg. He played left tackle during the past two seasons with the back-to-back national champs, but he was only a starter in his final season in 2022. In 26 games played over the past two seasons, he’s allowed just 17 total pressures. He didn’t allow a single sack in 2022.

He’s listed at 6-foot-5 and 311 pounds, but there is some debate on where his best position might be at the next level. Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar seems to think he has the chops to become an All-Pro guard. Others believe that he’ll thrive at right tackle, where he’s played fewer than 40 snaps over the past three seasons.

He’s not quite as experienced as some of the other offensive tackles in this class and that shows up at times on the tape. He’s an impressive athlete, posting a 93rd percentile 40-yard dash and good numbers in most other drills. His raw strength and power are also something that should appeal to NFL coaches who are looking to work with Jones.
