Kansas City #Chiefs head coach Andy Reid reveals mindset for matchup vs. Denver #Broncos: ‘Make sure you stay sharp’ | @EdEastonJr

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters on Monday for his weekly Zoom press conference. He shared his mindset for this Sunday’s low-stakes regular season finale against the Denver Broncos.

“When I first became a head coach, and the first time I had a chance to get in the playoffs, I’ve learned some things since then,” said Reid. “I know that you’ve got to keep yourself relative with practices and make sure you stay sharp, and you don’t want to get too far away from it in the playoffs. Everything gets a little bit faster in the playoffs every level you go up. It’s single elimination, and you have to make sure your game is at its peak each time you play.”

The Chiefs set a new franchise record for regular-season wins and have clinched the top seed in the conference. Although their star players won’t likely be in Sunday’s game, the next few weeks of practice preparation will be essential.

“They were able to get some rest, which I thought was important,” said Reid about his team after three games in eleven days. “I’m not recommending that you do that every year so, but down the road, I think we’ll be okay from it because of the rest that we gained here so, and that we also have the bye (week) coming up where, you know, there’s a chance that guys get a day or two off.”

The Chiefs will see several backups and practice squad players play significantly on Sunday.
