On Friday, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid revealed unexpected news to reporters regarding a reliable player on offense and special teams. Mecole Hardman is dealing with a knee issue that could affect his availability for this Sunday night’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers.
“Alright, as far as the injuries go, Mecole Hardman is the only one,” said Reid. “His knee locked up on him, and so we’re evaluating it right now. This was after our meeting, right before we got on the field. So, we’ll just see where he’s at with that.”
Hardman is the Chiefs’ primary kick returner and appears in multiple offensive packages. Reid responded to a follow-up question regarding his status with the same uncertainty about the Super Bowl LVIII hero.
“I don’t know that. I mean, they’re literally evaluating (him),” said Reid. “so we’ll just see where it goes.”
The Chiefs have several players on the active roster with returner experience, so they will likely prepare for the worst-case scenario if Hardman is unable to play. He is listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report.
