Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides injury updates ahead of Wednesday practice

#Chiefs K Harrison Butker and CB Trent McDuffie are expected to return to practice Wednesday, but several players injured in Week 5 will not practice per Andy Reid.

Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided injury updates to media members ahead of Wednesday’s practice session.

He kicked off his presser by running down the list of those who won’t be at practice for Kansas City.

“As far as the injuries go, the guys who won’t practice today are (Bryan) Cook with a concussion, (Rashad) Fenton with a hamstring spasm, (Chris) Lammons with a hip pointer and (Tershawn) Wharton (ACL),” Reid said. “You saw where (Taylor) Stallworth was elevated for (Benton) Whitley. And I think that’s it.”

Cook, Fenton, Lammons and Wharton all left the team’s Week 5 win over the Raiders with their respective injuries. Wharton will eventually be placed on injured reserve. Fenton’s injury was initially called cramping by Reid.

With Fenton and Lammons both injured, the Chiefs are fortunate that first-round draft pick Trent McDuffie has been designated to return from injured reserve, which means he’ll practice this week.

“Trent (McDuffie), yes, he’s back,” Reid said. “He’ll practice, yeah.”

As for whether McDuffie would be activated to the 53-man roster ahead of the Week 6 game, Reid wasn’t yet willing to commit to that. The team has a 21-day window during which they can decide to activate him.

“We’ll see, he’s been rehabbing,” Reid said. “We’ll just see how he does. He’s been going full speed with his rehab, but we’ll see how he does working back in.”

As for Harrison Butker, he’s also expected to return to practice after missing the last four weeks with an ankle sprain suffered in Week 1.

“Yep,” Reid said when asked whether Butker would practice.

Players who weren’t mentioned by Reid such as Mike Danna (calf), Trey Smith (pectoral) and Frank Clark (illness) are all expected to practice on Wednesday. There was no mention of Mecole Hardman, who has been dealing with a heel injury and appeared to reaggravate it in the Week 5 win over the Raiders. He’s someone to monitor when the injury report is released later today.
