Chiefs have no new injuries to report at training camp practice on Sunday

The injury report is dwindling in Kansas City, with only six players dealing with injuries.

The Kansas City Chiefs were back at the training field at the University of Kansas Health System Training Complex for practice on Sunday.

Here is the full list of players that didn’t practice today:

  • DE Alex Okafor (Calf)
  • DE Mike Danna (Calf)
  • LB Damien Wilson (Ankle)
  • WR Tyreek Hill (Hamstring)
  • TE Deon Yelder (Groin)
  • OT Martinas Rankin (PUP)

Today marked the first day that the Chiefs didn’t have a single new injury to report at training camp. The injury list is dwindling in Kansas City with only six players remaining sidelined. At one point the list had nearly a dozen players on it.

Returning to practice today was Demone Harris after missing a pair of practices with a back injury. Juan Thornhill also took a step forward in his return today, getting some work in during 7-on-7 team drills. He had some team drill work during a lighter 10-10-10 practice on Saturday.

Perhaps the most concerning of the players who remain absent is Yelder, who has been out of practice since August 14. Andy Reid described his injury previously as “a slight groin strain.” Rankin has been out the longest as he remains on the PUP list, dealing with the recovery from a knee injury suffered in 2019.

Danna and Okafor are both dealing with calf injuries. We’ll see how long it takes the two players to return to practice. Wilson is going on his second day of dealing with an ankle injury which means that rookie LB Willie Gay Jr. is getting more repetitions with the starting lineup.

Hill remains sidelined by a hamstring injury, which is considered to be minor.
