New Kansas City Chiefs edge rusher George Karlaftis already has his heart set on wreaking havoc against an AFC West foe.
One of the most common questions that pass-rushers get asked after they get selected in the draft is, “Which NFL quarterback are you most excited to sack?” Well, when Karlaftis was asked the question during his podium session following Thursday night’s first round, he didn’t even hesitate. He knew exactly who he wanted to sack and it was the AFC West’s newest quarterback.
“I’d say, probably Russell Wilson,” Karlaftis explained, via Mile High Huddle editor Zack Kelberman. “The guy has had a lot of success. He’s a little guy. He’s going to run around and scramble and all that kind of stuff. Looking forward to getting after him.”
It’s a bit of a backhanded compliment from Karlaftis to call Wilson a “little guy” and in the same breath mention his successes. It certainly makes sense why he’d want to get after Wilson, though. He’s a Super Bowl-winning quarterback who has a reputation for being elusive in the pocket. He can scramble, so chasing him down will certainly be a challenge for a new player in the NFL.
But to already be talking some trash about the Broncos? Yeah, Karlaftis will fit in just fine with Chiefs Kingdom.
