Chicago Bulls could play hardball with Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu

The Chicago Bulls have some tough offseason decisions to make, but they could choose to play hardball with Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu.

As the offseason gets underway for the Chicago Bulls, they are undoubtedly going to have some tough decisions. Some key players on the roster are going to be free agents this summer, including big man Nikola Vucevic, who has been a crucial part of their core for the past two-and-a-half seasons.

Vucevic isn’t the only person they’re going to have to re-sign, though. Bulls point guards Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu also need new contracts. Considering Chicago’s shoddy point guard depth, they need as much help as they can get, but recent reports indicate they could be stingy.

According to an NBA executive who spoke with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports, since both White and Dosunmu are restricted, the Bulls could try to play hardball.

“A lot of their situation depends on what happens with Nikola Vucevic and then Ayo Dosunmu and Coby White,” the exec told Heavy Sports. “Those (last) two guys are restricted, and maybe Chicago plays hardball with them.”

Dosunmu had a decent second season, but he failed to make significant improvements from his rookie year. However, he’s still only 23 years old.

At the same time, White is only 23 years old. He finished the season strongly, which should give the Bulls significant confidence in him moving forward.

Since Lonzo Ball isn’t expected back on the court anytime soon, bringing back at least one of White or Dosunmu should be toward the top of Chicago’s offseason priority list.
