The Chicago Bears have a choice to make: Justin Fields or Caleb Williams at quarterback? That choice will determine whether they take the top pick in the 2024 NFL draft or trade it for a lot of assets and pieces.
The Bears have to look at the context of their situation, as we wrote about earlier this month after the Bears lost to the Green Bay Packers in the season finale:
“Many will say that the weak nine-point performance from the Bears’ offense is an indictment of quarterback Justin Fields, but in reality, it’s more an indictment of the Chicago front office and its failure to field a good offensive line and give Fields every possible chance to succeed. Fields was sacked five times in this game. He was constantly under pressure. It’s hard to say Fields isn’t reading the game well when he rarely has clean pockets.”
Caleb Williams might be the answer in Chicago, but even if he is, he will need lots of help.
