Chet Holmgren signs with sports agency to pursue NIL opportunities

Holmgren was the highest-ranked recruit to commit to Gonzaga and was viewed as a key target to cash in on NIL opportunities.

Gonzaga Bulldogs center Chet Holmgren has signed with WME Sports to pursue name, image and likeness endorsement and sponsorship opportunities, the agency announced this week.

Holmgren, who is a potential No. 1 pick in the NBA draft next year, announced in April he would play next season at Gonzaga. He became the highest-ranked recruit to commit to the program and was viewed as a key target to cash in on NIL opportunities.

The recent legislation enabling collegiate athletes to profit off of their name, image and likeness will likely go a long way in helping programs land big-time recruits over professional leagues. Several top players have already agreed to NIL deals.

WME Sports also recently signed UCLA guard Johnny Juzang.

Holmgren led the Minnehaha Academy in Minnesota to its fourth straight state championship last season. He averaged 20.8 points, 12.6 rebounds, 4.7 blocks and 4.5 assists on 80% shooting from the field.

The 7-foot-1 standout brings a unique blend of size and skill to Gonzaga next season. He has drawn comparisons to Kristaps Porzingis given his ability on both ends of the floor.
