Courtesy of YouTuber Cardiac Kemba, here are highlights from safety Justin Simmons’ time at Boston College and his first four seasons with the Denver Broncos.
Denver won’t be giving Simmons a long-term contract extension this year but Simmons will remain with the Broncos for at least one more season under his franchise tag. He is now scheduled to become a free agent in 2021.
Simmons (6-2, 202 pounds) was selected by Denver in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft. After serving as a rotational defensive back as a rookie, Simmons emerged as a full-time starter in 2017.
Over the last four seasons, Simmons has recorded 275 tackles, two sacks, 28 pass breakups and 11 interceptions. Playing under coach Vic Fangio last season, Simmons posted career highs in interceptions (four) and pass breakups (11). He’ll look to build on those totals this season.
Simmons will serve as one of the team’s starting safeties this season across from Kareem Jackson. Trey Marshall, Douglas Coleman III, Alijah Holder, P.J. Locke and Kahani Smith will compete for backup safety duties this summer.
Simmons will turn 27 years old in November.
