In case you missed it, Pittsburgh Steelers rookie running back Najee Harris made his NFL debut on Thursday night. The Steelers 2021 first-round pick dressed and started against the Dallas Cowboys in the Hall of Fame game and after playing three series finished with 25 total yards on eight touches.
The Steelers have already put out a highlight video via their YouTube channel with all eight touches so fans can get a closer look at the highly-touted rookie.
In evaluating Harris’ play based on this limited sample, impressions are going to be all over the place. The announcers, especially the Pittsburgh guys were really hyping up Harris every time he touched the football. Others are going to be far more critical of his lack of production.
It’s the preseason. It’s a backup offensive line. It’s live NFL football for a young man who has never been there before. I would stress that everyone should have a little patience with Harris in his development over the preseason. His workload with change and as he is more comfortable with the offense the physical tools he showed in college should start to shine with the Steelers.
But let us know in the comments what you think of Harris’ first NFL action.
