Quarterback Cam Newton is going to make the goal line a less stressful place for the New England Patriots in 2020.
He was the first Patriot to put up points for this season. He scored a 4-yard touchdown in the second quarter of the team’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 at Gillette Stadium. In an empty backfield, Newton took off running right behind Jermaine Eluemunor. With speed and a solid block in space, Newton ran untouched into the end zone for an easy touchdown.
Newton put the Patriots on the board in the game — and on the season. They took a seven-point lead over the Dolphins, who upset the Patriots in Week 17 of 2019.
