Chase Elliott talks about NASCAR returning to Iowa Speedway in 2024. Check out what Elliott said about the first Cup Series race at Iowa!

NASCAR is finally returning to Iowa Speedway. The NASCAR Cup and Xfinity Series will begin the NBC Sports portion of the 2024 season on Father’s Day Weekend, and it will be a weekend of firsts. This will be the Cup Series’ first race at Iowa, while the Xfinity Series returns for the first time since the 2019 season. One of those drivers returning is [autotag]Chase Elliott[/autotag].

Elliott won his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Iowa and now gets a shot as a Cup Series competitor. The 2020 Cup Series champion spoke to FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass about NASCAR returning to Iowa, and he’s glad that it’s back on the schedule.

“I remember fans, particularly, always talking about how bad they want a [NASCAR Cup Series] race, so I’m just excited that they finally got a Cup race,” Elliott said. “I feel like it’s been a worthy facility for a long time, and whatever the reason may be or however long we go, I think it’s good that they have done things right over the years and got one.”

It’s unclear how NASCAR will race at Iowa as it has been four years, and the bottom of the race track has been repaved. The event may not look like a typical Iowa race from the past, but excitement is in the air. NASCAR should have been racing in Iowa for a long time, and the first Cup Series event at the speedway is overdue.
