The Phoenix Mercury selected UCLA Bruins women’s basketball star Charisma Osborne in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Unfortunately, she was released before the season began and was a free agent.
However, Osborne is returning to the Mercury, as the team announced on Thursday. In a corresponding move, the Mercury waived Morgan Bertsch.
Osborne quickly returned to the facilities and even suggested she would be available for the Mercury game on Thursday night against the Las Vegas Aces (Desert Wave Media).
“I am available tonight. I don’t know how much I’ll play or if I’ll play. But I’ll be ready if they want me to go in.”

The Mercury enter Thursday’s game with a 6-6 record and are looking to string together some wins. Osborne had a fantastic career with the Bruins and was a victim of shallow WNBA rosters, but now she is making her return to Mercury and the WNBA with a second chance.
