Chargers, Rashawn Slater agree to terms on rookie deal

#Chargers, Rashawn Slater agree to terms on rookie deal:

The Los Angeles Chargers have inked their first-round rookie to a contract with training camp starting this week.

Offensive tackle Rashawn Slater, the No. 13 overall pick at the 2021 NFL draft, has signed his four-year rookie deal on Tuesday. The contract is fully guaranteed:

Slater is projected to slide in at left tackle to shore up quarterback Justin Herbert’s blindside for the forseeable future after the quarterback’s breakout rookie year in 2020. Slater also played right tackle in college at Northwestern.

Slater was one of three first-round picks that still remained unsigned from the recent draft. The two others are quarterbacks, Zach Wilson (Jets) and Trey Lance (49ers).

After signing wide receiver Josh Palmer over the weekend, the Bolts had two first-year pros that were unsigned. Slater and third-round rookie Tre’ McKitty. Los Angeles went on to announce that McKitty had also signed his rookie deal on Tuesday, a short time after Slater’s was announced.
