Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor has been medically from his punctured lung, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
Taylor sustained the punctured lung when a team doctor injected a pain-killer to alleviate rib discomfort before Los Angeles’ Week 2 game against the Chiefs. He was forced to go to the hospital right before kickoff.
Rookie Justin Herbert started in his place, where he dominated against the defending Super Bowl champions. He proved that he was worthy of keeping as the permanent starter, leading to coach Anthony Lynn’s decision to make it official.
Taylor could become available to serve as the Chargers’ backup this Sunday against the Jaguars if practice goes well for him.
Taylor, who’s in his second stint with Los Angeles, will become a free agent after this season.
