Chargers place LB Drue Tranquill on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Chargers could potentially be without one of their starting linebackers against the Vikings.

The Chargers placed linebacker Drue Tranquill on the NFL’s Covid-19/Reserve list after testing positive on Thursday, according to NFL Insider Aaron Wilson.

Tranquill is vaccinated, so he needs two negative tests within 24 hours and no symptoms to play if his positive is confirmed.

Tranquill is only the second member of the team to be on the list this season, with cornerback Ryan Smith being the first back in August.

If Tranquill misses this Sunday’s game against the Vikings, Kenneth Murray, who is trending towards being activated off the injured reserve, would start in place of him.

That would also mean that the Chargers would promote a player off the practice squad, whether that be Nick Niemann or Amen Ogbongbemiga.

This season, in seven games, Tranquill has 42 tackles, three tackles for loss and two quarterback hits.
