It may seem like the 2024 college football season just began a few weeks ago, but here we are in November. The first College Football Playoff rankings are going to be revealed this week.
It should be a nice occasion for Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks, who are expected to be the No. 1 team in the first rankings of the year. They have beaten two top-25 teams: Ohio State and Boise State.
While getting the No. 1 spot may be great for fans, it’s unlikely Lanning or his team will pay it any mind. The group led by Dillon Gabriel, Jordan James, Jordan Burch and many others are pushing toward multiple goals.
Oregon football College Football Playoffs projection
The Ducks have been ranked No. 1 in both the AP Top 25 and the US LBM Coaches Poll for three weeks, and they’ve looked like the best team in the country during that time. At this point, it would be a big surprise if they were not ranked No. 1 by the College Football Playoff committee, given they are one of four unbeaten teams remaining in the Power Four conferences and have one of the strongest strength of schedule records in the nation.
