CFN breaks down the pre-spring Big 12 power rankings, Oklahoma No. 1

College Football News released their pre-spring football power rankings. The Sooners are the clear No. 1 but who steps up as No. 2?

College football season wrapped up about a month ago but spring football will be right around the corner. Last year the Oklahoma Sooners started spring camp before it was shut down due to COVID-19 before it could really get started. Time will tell if there will be some semblance of spring football this year.

The Sooners are coming off their sixth-straight Big 12 Championship and fourth-consecutive under head coach Lincoln Riley. Safe to say with the returning production for Oklahoma, they will be the favorite yet again. If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it. The question remains as to which team will step up to challenge them in the Big 12 Championship game this year?

Last year was the first time that Oklahoma wasn’t the No. 1 seed heading into the title game since its return in 2017. They have played in 11 of the 15 title games dating back to 2000. That includes the six-year hiatus of the conference championship game. In each of their last six appearances, it hasn’t been the same opponent. Last year Iowa State stepped up to the plate.

College Football News put out their pre-spring power rankings, so who will be the early favorite to challenge Oklahoma? It could be their archrivals just south of the Red River.
