Despite looking anything but stellar in their 12-7 win over Louisville on Saturday, Notre Dame is still being projected by at least one national outlet to be playing in a New Year’s Six bowl.
Pete Fiutak runs College Football News and in his latest set of bowl projections that are hot off the press following the latest college football Saturday, he has Notre Dame headed to Miami.
Fiutak and College Football News project the Irish to earn a bid to the Orange Bowl and play Florida.
The Gators are the reigning Orange Bowl champions after beating Virginia in the game a season ago.
Notre Dame played in the BCS Championship Game against Alabama at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami but hasn’t played in the actual Orange Bowl game since falling to Florida State to conclude the 1995 season.
Obviously the ultimate goal is the College Football Playoff but with what most Notre Dame fans were probably thinking after the Irish briefly fell behind Louisville on Saturday, a trip to the Orange Bowl doesn’t sound all bad.
