Celtics Wire evening trivia – April 16: Boston’s up-and-down 1970s

The 1970s were a success by almost any measure save that of the Boston Celtics, who “only” won two banners a decade after winning nine.

As we lurch back towards normalcy in the midst of NBA history we’d prefer to be behind us already in the form of the coronavirus pandemic, the Celtics Wire has been assembling some evening Boston Celtics trivia to keep us busy.

Tonight we turn to a comparatively forgotten era of Boston’s storied past, the 1970s.

While two banners in the same decade would be seen as a success by almost any franchise, for the Celtics — fresh off a decade that saw them hang nine — it was something of a roller coaster.

After a rough start to the decade, the team added two more championships to its resumé only to see a slow slide ino back-to-back losing seasons, a phenomenon unknown to Boston fans for more than a generation.
