Boston Celtics rookie Tremont Waters suffered a concussion last week in practice and is in the concussion protocol program, head coach Brad Stevens said on Monday.

Waters, who is signed to a two-way contract, was included on the Celtics’ roster for the NBA restart this month at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida. Waters suffered the injury three or four days ago with the team.

The only other guy that has been out is Tremont. Tremont has a concussion from three or four days ago so he is at the latter stages of his concussion protocol right now with his stuff but he has not been cleared.

Waters was named the 2019-20 NBA G League Rookie of the Year after spending most of the season with the Maine Red Claws. He averaged 18 points, 7.3 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 36 games, finishing sixth in assists per game and 14th in steals.

Waters played well when called upon this season in the NBA and would offer the Celtics some added depth and playmaking ability, especially with starter Kemba Walker nursing a knee injury. Waters averaged 3.3 points and 1.2 assists in 10 appearances with the Celtics.

The Celtics kick off the season restart July 31 vs. the Milwaukee Bucks.
