Boston Celtics two way point guard Tremont Waters is among 15 G League prospects Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman believes have NBA potential.
Notably absent from the list however is Maine Red Claws teammate and fellow Boston two way player Tacko Fall.
What gives, you ask?
Effectively, Wasserman’s opinion. He’s not, he states, simply listing the best 15 G League players from the 2019-20 season, but rather prospects with the most long-term potential at the next level.
That of course doesn’t mean he thinks Fall is going to be a bust, but in a league where less-mobile bigs like Fall are already behind the eight ball in terms of being a good fit with a major role on the team, it’ll be even more of a journey for the Senegalese center just to get himself into a rotation.

Waters however just won the G League 2019-20 Rookie of the Year award, and Wasserman can see him carving out a role as a high-end backup floor general.
“Teams missed on Waters by putting too much stock into his measurables and NCAA inefficiency. He clearly possesses a level of quickness and skill to create, make plays and knock down jumpers at a threatening-enough clip,” relates Wasserman. “While his lack of size (5-foot-10, 175 lbs.) and athleticism may limit his NBA ceiling, there is a path for Waters to emerge as a valuable backup on a title contender.”
The Bleacher Reporter sees Waters as the fourth-best G League prospect in terms of NBA potential, behind only shooting guard Talen Horton-Tucker (South Bay Lakers), and guards Daishen Nix and Jalen Green of the G League Select Team in reverse order.
The Connecticut native is finally starting to get some respect on his name — and after a Rookie of the Year performance out of the gate, it’s not hard to understand why.
