Former Alabama guard JD Davison on Saturday signed a two-way contract with the Boston Celtics, the team announced.
Davison, the 53rd pick in the NBA draft, averaged 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.3 assists and one steal in 33 games last season. He was named to the SEC All-Freshman team and led the Crimson Tide in assists. Davison finished seventh in the SEC among all players in that category.
The 19-year-old recorded 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals in his debut on Saturday with the Celtics in the Las Vegas Summer League. He went 3-of-11 from the field, including 2-of-5 from 3-point range.

Davison will split his time next season between Boston and the Maine Celtics in the NBA G League. He is eligible to spend no more than 50 games in the NBA and will earn a flat salary equal to 50% of the minimum salary applicable to a player with zero years of service.
Boston returns to play on Monday at 8 p.m. EDT.
