Celtics’ Robert Williams III talks work-life balance and parenting in the NBA

Timelord keeps family and basketball in their own spheres as much as he can.

The NBA is no stranger to second and even third-generation players coming through its ranks after a lifetime of exposure to the league fosters a similar love for the game among the children of players who end up becoming NBA players themselves.

But for some, the time to see the Association up close and in person is something that should come a little later in life, perhaps with a deeper understanding of how the world works beyond arenas and parquets already in tow. So seems to be the outlook of Boston Celtics star center and new dad Robert Williams III, whose young children watch their father from afar on television at home. Asked whether Williams’ young daughter gets what he does for a living after practice on Thursday, Timelord confirmed she does.

“She understands what I do,” he explained.
