Celtics reaction: Boston stymies Giannis early, rains 3-pointers in win over Bucks

The Celtics neared a franchise record in an impressive win over the Bucks on Friday.

The Boston Celtics entered Friday’s rematch with the Milwaukee Bucks carrying an awful recent road record, with 10 losses in their last 11 road games, but they silenced the hottest team in the league and held Giannis Antetokounmpo to another subpar game in an impressive 122-114 win.

The Bucks were fortunate to only be down six points at halftime, as Giannis had just four points at the break, but the Celtics took control in the third by exploding for 43 points in the period.

Jayson Tatum led all scorers with 34 points, though there was a scare in the third quarter when Tatum left the floor, pointed at his knee in the tunnel and went back to the locker room. Fortunately, Tatum returned to the bench only a few minutes later, and immediately drained a jumper when reinserted into the game.

It was a solid night for all of the Celtics’ top offensive options, as Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart combined for 96 points – the highest total they’ve ever reached when playing together.
