The Boston Celtics will face the Washington Wizards in Capital One Arena as healthy as they are likely to be for the rest of the 2021-22 NBA regular season with news that the team has upgraded veteran guard Marcus Smart and second-year forward Aaron Nesmith to available for the road game against the Wizards this Sunday afternoon.
Nesmith had been nursing a rolled ankle turned in one of his trademark crash landings, while Smart had been working on his reconditioning after an extended stint spent in the league’s health and safety protocols necessitated by a negative test return for COVID-19.
The team still lists big man Bol Bol as out due to right foot surgery that should keep him sidelined until close to the end of the season as out for the Celtics today, as is guard PJ Dozier, who is done for the season while he recovers from surgery on his left ACL.
#NEBHInjuryReport update:
Aaron Nesmith – AVAILABLE
Marcus Smart – AVAILABILE https://t.co/48L6yrODDW— Boston Celtics (@celtics) January 23, 2022
Both new arrivals from the Denver Nuggets in the trade that sent seldom-used forward Juancho Hernangomez, their injured status likely was a prominent factor in being dealt to Boston, so those two are unlikely to factor in games for the Celtics this season.
