Celtics injury update: Boston’s Jaylen Brown upgraded to available vs. San Antonio Spurs

The star forward has been working his way back from a hamstring strain.

The Boston Celtics announced on Friday afternoon that star forward Jaylen Brown will be available to play in the team’s road contest with the San Antonio Spurs. Brown has been working his way back from a strained hamstring, and will likely play shorter stints for at least the game against the Spurs Friday evening.

The Celtics will continue to be without both starting center Robert Williams III and reserve shooting guard Josh Richardson, who are both listed as scratches for the game in San Antonio as each recovers from an evidently harsh non-COVID illness of an undisclosed nature that has caused both to miss games already.

Boston should be in a good position to compete against San Antonio, who has struggled in a competitive Western Conference, particularly given the Spurs are coping with several players being out injured in the scheduled contest tonight with the Celtics.
