The Boston Celtics may have to face the Portland Trail Blazers tonight with one less All-Star than they’d planned to, based on the team’s latest reporting on player injury.
Celtics star forward Jaylen Brown has been downgraded to questionable in the Sunday night tilt with the Blazers to be held at TD Garden, the Georgia native evidently suffering from a right ankle sprain. Teammate and fellow starter Kemba Walker has also been downgraded from doubtful for the contest with a left oblique strain to out against Portland for what will be his fourth consecutive game missed due to that injury.
The Blazers continue to list only forward Zach Collins (ankle fracture) as a scratch for the game tonight.
#NEBHInjuryReport update vs. Portland:
Jaylen Brown (right ankle sprain) – QUESTIONABLE
Kemba Walker (left oblique strain) – OUT— Boston Celtics (@celtics) May 2, 2021
If Brown can’t suit up, it will make an already-difficult matchup all the harder, but the Celtics should still have a solid chance at winning the contest against Portland, with the Blazers having lost six of their last 10 games.
Portland has had good momentum of late with three straight victories however — including one over the East’s first-place Brooklyn Nets.
