Armed with four picks, including three in the first round, the Boston Celtics have likely kept busy interviewing prospects ahead of the 2020 NBA Draft on Nov. 18.
With so many picks, and a roster with key players, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge hinted last week the team could draft more based on potential need versus taking the best player available. However, the organization will consider all of its options when it comes time to draft.
Currently, the Celtics hold the 14th, 26th, 30th and 47th picks, respectively. The front office has likely interviewed a wide-range of players and one of those includes former Gonzaga center Killian Tillie, according to Chris Grenham of Forbes.
The Celtics spoke with Tillie during the spring and apparently had a good conversation with him. Tillie is most commonly projected to be selected in the mid-to-late second round and would theoretically be available when the Celtics are on the clock with the 47th overall pick.
Tillie showed flashes in college of being a great all-around frontcourt player that can help spread the floor and make plays. However, Tillie dealt with several injuries in the past and questions regarding his durability have understandably surfaced.
Ainge mentioned last week that the Celtics have the luxury of utilizing their G League team, the Maine Red Claws, for development opportunities and Tillie would likely stand to benefit in that situation. The Celtics have a great development system and could look to take a chance of Tillie as a result.
