Boston Celtics rookie Grant Williams is among the players eagerly awaiting the return of basketball when the NBA resumes the 2019-20 season July 30 at the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Florida.
Williams has stayed busy during the suspension of the regular season, too. He has helped donate food to the frontline workers helping out during the coronavirus pandemic and he also started a virtual youth mentoring program in the Boston area.
Williams spoke this week with Paul Finebaum of ESPN to discuss a variety of topics, including the plan to restart the regular season at Disney next month, via Justin Quinn of Celtics Wire.
We’re going to travel down on July 6 or 7 and be quarantined for 24 or 36 hours and then after that, we’ll be able to access not only the golf course and certain facilities, but also be able to play and get back to what we love, and that’s the sport of basketball.
Williams has mostly been in his hometown of Charlotte with teammate Kemba Walker during the coronavirus pandemic. While some players around the NBA have voiced concerns with the plan to resume the season, it sounds as though Williams is onboard with playing again.
