Boston Celtic veteran forward Gordon Hayward has invested in mobile esports company Tribe Gaming, reports Field Level Media via Reuters.
Hayward, well-known for his longtime personal interest in gaming and esports, joins WWE wrestler Claudio “Cesaro” Castagnoli among other investors in helping the gaming company expand operations over the coming years.
Tribe plans to secure a new company headquarters in Austin, Texas with a content creator lab designed for producing mobile gaming and entertainment products.
The organization, which focuses on mobile gaming and has 15 million subscribers and 67 million monthly viewers on their YouTube channel, recently revealed it had raised a warchest of $1.04 million towards these goals in their initial round of fundraising.
Tribe’s getting a boost! We've raised over $1M and brought on new all-star partners (literally) to build the biggest mobile gaming esports organization & content collective in the world.

Hayward related the intense excitement he had for the venture in the following statement:
“I’ve been an NBA All-Star and made it to the NCAA championship, but I still get a rush when I’m taking down my enemy’s towers in a game of Clash … Tribe is about celebrating mobile gaming, whether it’s by cheering your team on the sidelines or watching your favorite streamers on your couch. I’ve been a mobile gaming fan for a long time, and I can’t wait to help bring those experiences to more people around the world.”
