Armed with three first-round picks, the Boston Celtics have reportedly shown interest in R.J. Hampton ahead of the NBA draft, according to Chris Grenham of Forbes. The Celtics recently interviewed Hampton and are working to set up an in-person with him.

Currently, the Celtics hold the 14th, 26th, 30th and 47th picks, respectively, in the NBA draft. Hampton is most commonly projected to be selected 15th and Boston could look to target him with the 14th overall pick if they so choose.

Hampton was once viewed as a potential top-five pick but an inconsistent showing in the National Basketball League dropped his draft stock a bit. He averaged 8.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.1 steals in 15 games played with the NZ Breakers.

The 19-year-old has been training with two-time champion Mike Miller ahead of the draft. Miller believes Hampton can become a multi-time All-Star in the league with an improved shot and Hampton recently said he believes he can be a franchise-changing player.

Hampton has the physical tools and athleticism to thrive at the next level but will likely need some development. The Celtics have utilized their G League affiliate extensively in the past to great success and Hampton could certainly stand to benefit in that situation.

The NBA draft is scheduled to take place on Nov. 18.
