Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla praises Boston’s mindset in 108-104 win vs. Knicks to start season

“We know that’s something we’re going to have to continue to grow at is our late-game execution,” shared the Celtics coach.

When it comes to how the Boston Celtics approached the game mentally in their season opener against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla had no complaints. “I thought the mindset we brought was good the majority of the night,” said Mazzulla of Boston’s 108-104 road win via The Athletic’s Jay King.

“You’re going to expect games to go like that, it’s like every time we play them it’s a one-possession game,” he explained. “I thought we were relatively tough on both ends of the floor and I thought we tried to execute down the stretch.”

“We know that’s something we’re going to have to continue to grow at is our late-game execution,” shared the Celtics coach.

“I thought we brought poise, I thought we brought good spacing,” recalled Mazzulla, “I thought we tried to make the right play.”
