In one of the weirder games of the 2020-21 Boston Celtics season, neither Jaylen Brown nor Jayson Tatum scored more than 18 points while beating the Toronto Raptors at home 120 – 106.
That was due in large part to career nights from both reserve forward Semi Ojeleye (24 points and 6 rebounds on 6-of-8 shooting from 3) and rookie guard Payton Pritchard (20 points and 5 rebounds, also connecting on 6-of-8 3-point attempts). Struggling star point guard Kemba Walker also seemed to carve out a role by hitting 5-of-8 from beyond the arc and going 6-of-6 from the stripe for 21 points and 5 boards to have a break from a mostly tough start to his season.

Tatum put up 17 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists, while Brown added 12 points and a career-high 10 dimes for a record of his own as the Celtics managed to put together one of their best passing games of the season with 30 total assists.
“It’s clearly really important not only for the standpoint of generating the best looks, but also from the standpoint of getting the most out of each other,” observed head coach Brad Stevens on the outstanding ball movement after the game.
With the win, Boston improved to 13 – 11 and a half-game behind the Brooklyn Nets for the league’s third-best record; they next face the Detroit Pistons on Friday, Feb. 12 at 8 p.m. ET.
