Celtics alumnus Dennis Schroder to reportedly miss EuroBasket qualifier vs. Sweden with ankle injury

The ankle injury doesn’t appear to be serious for the Boston alumnus, however.

The list of Boston Celtics alumni dealing with injuries in the 2022 EuroBasket FIBA qualifiers grows: Former Celtics floor general Dennis Schroder is reportedly skipping out on his German National Team’s friendly against Sweden to remain in Germany for treatment, per new reporting from Eurohoops.

Schroder, who signed a midlevel exception deal with Boston at the start of last season after misreading the market for his services, joins Celtics alumni Danilo Gallinari, Luigi Datome (both with the Italian National Team) and fellow German National Team member Daniel Theis as Boston alumni who have seen injuries limit their participation in EuroBasket qualifiers.

Nursing an ankle injury sustained against the Czech National Team this week, Schroder seems more likely to return to action than Theis. His injury is evidently less serious even if it remains to be seen whether the German guard will play in his team’s next friendly against Slovenia.
